888 is a well-known name in the UK gambling industry, and one of its subsidiaries – Cassava Enterprises Limited – is famous in its own right for producing popular bingo sites, and (more recently) online casinos. Its latest venture is called Welcome Slots, and it joins big names like Moon Games and Slot Crazy on launching in early 2017. It calls itself “the Home of Slots”, although scratch cards, live casino games, and table games make an appearance also. So, will you be gagging to get your foot through the front door of Welcome Slots or will it leave you scrabbling to find an excuse to make a quick getaway?
We’re used to Cassava Enterprises’ bingo and casino sites being fun, colourful, and inviting. So, we’re a little perplexed by the rather dull appearance of Welcome Slots, especially as it was only launched in 2017. The bleak black background seems unimaginative, and there’s no attempt to create any branding with the “Welcome Slots” logo. So, the only thing that looks remotely welcoming about the site is the image of a smiling blonde woman on the homepage (although her LBD makes most of her disappear into the black background).
Luckily, usability is a different kettle of fish. As we’d expect from Cassava, the layout is sensibly executed with a prominent top navigation bar, an area for your account underneath, and a lobby which can be viewed by game type.
The “Chat with us, we are online!” button at the bottom of each page lets you quickly launch the live chat service to get instant help. There’s also a toll-free telephone number you can call between 9 AM and 1 AM, 7 days a week, and an email address.
Once you’re ready to start funding your Welcome Slots account, you can get 25 free spins on Kingdom of Cash and a 100% bonus of up to £200 on your first deposit of £10+, 25 free spins and a 75% bonus of up to £150 on your second deposit of £10+, and 25 free spins and a 50% bonus of up to £250 on your third deposit of £10+. These three offers require you to meet 40x wagering requirements for the bonus and 60x wagering requirements for the free spins.
The Promotions page doesn’t appear to be updated very often. Instead, there are a few ongoing offers like the refer-a-friend scheme, which gives you a free £10 bonus for every person you successfully refer to the site, a 10% midweek cashback deal, and Mad Mad Monday which offers you ten free spins and a 10% casino bonus. It would be good to see a wider variety of promotions such as slots tournaments and cash prize draws.
It’s hard to fault Dragonfish software. The games load quickly, and the lobby is designed so that you can quickly locate the kinds of games you enjoy playing most. You can easily quit the games to return to the lobby or top-up your account balance too.
With Welcome Slots, however, there are no networked promotions or exclusive games to discover, which takes the shine off things.
The lack of a Mobile page is frustrating for such a new online casino, but at least the “mobile” tab within the lobby categories gives you an inkling that you can play at Welcome Slots on smartphones and tablets. It’s a little misleading, however, as it only shows fourteen games. But, if you log into your account via the main website on your mobile, there are actually considerably more.
Welcome Slots is licensed and regulated by the Government of Gibraltar and the Great Britain Gambling Commission. The website displays the eCOGRA logo which deems it a safe and fair casino to play at. SSL security, a secure URL, and a random number generator are also in place.
According to the numbers provided by the operator, there are 169 slots, 35 jackpot games, 23 table games, 14 mobile games, 13 scratch cards, and 11 live casino games to choose from. Like most Cassava-owned bingo and casino sites, the software providers that feature at Welcome Slots include WMS, Eyecon, and Net Entertainment.
There are popular slot games like Rainbow Riches, Fluffy Favourites, Millionaire Genie, Golden Goddess, Siberian Storm, Guns ‘n’ Roses, and Wolf Run, and a relatively good range of table games such as Oasis Poker, Multi-Hand Blackjack, Deal or No Deal Roulette, Baccarat, and American Roulette.
Sadly, there’s nothing we haven’t seen before at other 888/Cassava sites, so Welcome Slots fails to impress when it comes to originality.
You can use any of the following payment methods: Paysafecard, Paypal, Entropay, Neteller, Wire Transfer, MasterCard, Visa, or Maestro.
You can deposit between £10 and £10,000 per day, and withdraw £20 to £1,000 per day.
Like other Cassava Enterprises casino sites, there’s a 48-hour withdrawal processing time, and it then takes a further two to seven days for the funds to be transferred, depending on your chosen banking method.
There’s currently no VIP club or loyalty scheme offered by Welcome Slots.
With the arrival of exciting new casinos like Wicked Jackpots from the same operator in the past twelve months, we had high hopes of awarding Welcome Slots an excellent rating. Sadly, we were left disappointed by the site’s dull theme, lack of loyalty scheme and monthly promotions, and no meaningful introduction or “About Us” page. On this basis, we’d suggest you bypass Welcome Slots and join a better Cassava casino such as Wicked Jackpots or 777 Casino.
