This might not be one of Microgaming’s most well-known slots, but there’s still plenty to enjoy with big wins on offer and the potential for quite a few free spins and a decent multiplier too. Combining many features of a traditional casino-style slot with an Irish theme, it might not seem like the most exciting game for players into more unconventional slots, but there are still a range of features on show. Is it worth playing 9 Pots of Gold? Read on to find out…

Seeing the gold

Ireland isn’t called the Emerald Isle for nothing, and this slot is certainly green too! The background is a deep green colour not unlike that of a typical casino table, and there are numerous four-leaved clovers dotted around. Is that a sign of good things to come? Perhaps, and you’re sure to get excited when you see the gold play board and the table showing what you can win from matching pots of gold.

The symbols are largely – you guessed it – green, and there’s a combination of classic symbols like 7s and bars and Irish themed symbols too. There’s also a lot of sound – you can listen to the music here if you like. It’s all very rhythmic drumming, but it doesn’t really add or take away anything from the game – your experience won’t be affected too much whether or not you keep the sound on.

Playing with luck

This slot has 20 paylines, and five reels – there are 15 symbols on the board at once. The wild symbol is the most valuable symbol in the game – apart from the pot symbol, which doesn’t pay on paylines like the others. Getting five wild symbols on a payline from a £1 bet gets you £125, while the most valuable regular symbol, the 3 7s symbol, gets you a relatively low £37.50. However, there are quite a few more symbols – seven additional symbols altogether – and these all pay out at lower rates.

However, as the name of the game suggests, the pot of gold is the real jewel in the crown here. Getting three or more pot symbols awards a cash prize – as it’s a scatter system, they can appear anywhere on the reels, not necessarily on a payline. Nine pots of gold will get you a cash prize of 2000x your total bet, so from a £1 bet you’d win £2000. Eight symbols would win you 500x your total bet and seven would get you 100x your total bet, decreasing down until the reward of 1x your total bet for three pot symbols.

Free spins for gold

The pot scatter symbols aren’t just good for getting you great cash prizes – get three of them and as well as your reward of 1x your total bed, you’ll be in line for a spin of the free spin wheel. The free spin wheel has a number of wedges, and each one contains a number of free spins and a multiplier too.

You can win ten, 12, 15, 20, 25 or 30 free spins, with a multiplier of either 2x or 3x. The best possible combination is 30 free spins with a 3x multiplier, while the worst is ten free spins with a 2x multiplier. The multiplier applies to every win apart from pot symbol wins – as these are scatter symbols. Meanwhile, your free spins can be retriggered if you get another three scatter symbols. You’ll get the same amount of spins as you won on the initial trigger – imagine getting 60 in total!

Conclusion

There isn’t much that sets 9 Pots of Gold apart from similar slots – the ‘lucky Irish’ theme is one that’s pretty popular, and there are lots of games along these lines. However, the free spins wheel is a fun feature, and the potential for huge scatter wins adds a little excitement. It has an average RTP, and a fairly standard play board too, so there’s not an awful lot to catch the eye, but there are definitely more boring slots out there.

Provider

Microgaming boasts numerous slots – they claim to be the first proper online slot provider as they were founded back in 1994, so they’ve had plenty of time to supply players with their hundreds of games. From branded slots like Batman and Game Of Thrones, to Mega Moolah, Lotsaloot and Break da Bank, their offerings are full of variety – after playing 9 Pots of Gold, why not explore their collection of games further?

Free spins can also be retriggered, with the amount given being the same as the amount originally awarded.

How many paylines does 9 Pots of Gold have?

What’s the highest possible win in the base game?

The highest possible win in the base game can be achieved by getting nine pot symbols on the reels at once. Your payout will be 2000x your total bet, so from a £1 bet you can win £2000. Unlike with the other symbols, paylines don’t matter here - the pot symbol is a scatter symbol.
