Responsible Gambling Week

Responsible Gambling Week is an annual event that aims to raise awareness for safer, more responsible gambling habits. It's an important week for the UK gambling industry and for players, as gambling responsibly is key to reducing gambling related harm. If you've not come across Responsible Gambling Week, we've put together the five Ws to answer some questions you may have.

What?

RGW is an initiative that companies and outlets across the whole egaming industry are taking part in to promote more responsible and safer gambling habits in the UK. 2019 marked the third annual RGW and it’s a great opportunity for the whole industry to raise awareness and promote healthier gambling.

How?

The first question you might have is: how can I tell whether my gambling is responsible? Gambling can be a fun and harmless pastime, but for some the need to recoup losses or chase a big win can consume their time, their attention and their finances. An unhealthy gambling habit is when you are no longer in control of your spend - whether it be money or time.

The first part of dealing with a potential problem is to identify whether you have unhealthy habits, we recommend taking the BeGambleAware gambling addiction quiz. It’s important to be completely honest in these kinds of quizzes for accurate results. Think to yourself: if you’re lying to yourself then it’s worth working out why that might be.

When?

From Thursday, the 7th of November to Wednesday the 13th of November we posted daily on our OnlineBingo news page and social channels with information, advice and relevant articles.

Where?

If you want to find out more information about the week of responsible gambling plans and activities, you can follow the campaign on its official social channels or check out the #RGWeek19 hashtag on all social platforms. You can also check our responsible gambling guides on OnlineBingo.co.uk to see our daily updates and articles.

Why?

By raising awareness and prompting questions about your gambling behaviour, it becomes easier to make the correct decisions and limit yourself accordingly. Gambling addiction can affect people of all age groups and backgrounds, but it can be easy to convince yourself “It could never affect me”. Don’t let bad habits creep up on you.
