RGWeek returns, rebranding to ‘Safer Gambling Week’ for 2020

Since 2017, the gambling industry in the UK has come together for one week a year to shout about the importance of responsible gambling. While responsible gambling is obviously important all year round, dedicating a week to open discussion, education and help for problem gamblers goes a long way, with RGWeek 2019’s event getting over 25 million social media impressions.
The annual campaign is returning in 2020, but in the first major change since I began, it will instead be called ‘Safer Gambling Week’! The reason for the name change isn't clear, but it could have something to do with visibility, or confusion with responsible gambling tools that are already available on online bingo sites and other gambling sources.
The main goals of Safer Gambling Week are to raise awareness of:
- how to gamble more safely;
- the tools that are available to help people gamble safely all year round;
- sources of more advice and support.
From 19th - 25th November 2020, look out on social media, at bingo halls, on FOBTs in pubs/bookies and on all your favourite online casino sites for the Safer Gambling Week logo. Wherever you see the logo, you will be able to find important information and resources, or speak to someone about what you can do about your own gambling habits.
Back in 2019, we had a whole week of content covering a number of responsible gambling topics that you can check out by visiting our Responsible Gambling guides. Check back closer to the date to see what events are happening across the UK gambling industry.
