In the UK, Allwyn has faced delays in implementing the technological upgrades for the UK National Lottery, which it committed to during its bid for the ten-year license from the Gambling Commission.

The Czech gambling conglomerate succeeded Camelot on February 1 but has reportedly missed multiple deadlines for the overhaul. Allwyn is now allegedly working towards a February 2025 deadline to overhaul the National Lottery's technology.

A February deadline

The Telegraph reports that sources familiar with the situation indicate Allwyn is targeting a February 2025 deadline to complete its tech upgrades, although this could be postponed to summer or beyond.

The upgrades are challenging, and the initiative faced initial delays due to a legal challenge by Camelot's former tech provider, IGT, against the Gambling Commission's tender decision, which subsequently resulted in a tech partnership between IGT and Allwyn.

Allwyn secured the Gambling Commission's tender by committing to increase the funding from £17 billion to £38 billion over its licence term. Although Allwyn is projected to fall short of its forecast in the initial two years, it remains hopeful of compensating for this shortfall in the subsequent years of the licence.

In its first ten months of operating the lottery, Allwyn has initiated the modernisation of 40,000 retail outlets and introduced new products, including Paris 2024, Lotto, Set For Life campaigns, and a scratchcard purchase limit.
