With events and social activities cancelled for the summer, many people are turning to virtual versions of their favourite activities. Of course, this includes bingo, as virtual bingo starts to become a popular lockdown pastime!
Don’t Panic Promotions, an event planner based in Huntingdon, has been running a weekly virtual bingo night, with all proceeds going to benefit the NHS. The events have raised nearly £2000 so far, and have had a few celebrity endorsements!
Not only is the event hosted by Don’t Panic’s own Rob DJ, but messages of encouragement have come from Paul Chuckle, The Inbetweeners’ James Buckley and X-Factor legend, Wagner Fiuza-Carrilho. Last week’s event also saw Timmy Mallett donate one of his signature pink mallets to be auctioned off! You may have seen Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey host a night of virtual bingo a few weeks ago, proving that bingo is fun for everyone.
The events are sponsored by local Huntingdon businesses, with pizzerias, fish and chip shops, bars and florists all chipping in to raise awareness and provide prizes, all to raise money for local NHS hospitals.
The weekly music bingo events have been running for over a month now, with each week sporting a different musical theme. These include ABBA, 90s hits, TV adverts and Elvis. This week’s event, taking place on Sunday, 24th May 2020, will have a Queen theme!
You can visit the Don’t Panic Promotions Facebook page to find out how to get involved in this Sunday’s event, maybe you, your friends and your family will be singing ‘We Are The Champions’ whilst also raising money for our NHS heroes?
