Hunt continues for winner of unclaimed lottery ticket prize
The National Lottery has urged the owner of an unclaimed winning ticket to come forward before it expires next Tuesday.
The National Lottery has urged the owner of an unclaimed winning ticket to come forward before it expires next Tuesday.
In the ‘Set For Life’ draw of 6th May this year, the as-yet-unidentified buyer matched all five numbers plus the Life Ball, winning them the top prize of £10,000 per month for the next 30 years. Players who entered that particular draw are now being urged to check their tickets to see if they have won.
All that is known so far is that the ticket was purchased in the Three Rivers district of Hertfordshire. The winning numbers in the draw were 2, 7, 25, 40 and 46, and the Life Ball was 4.
If the prize money is not claimed by 2nd November, then it will go towards funding projects supported by the National Lottery.
The Set For Life draw was introduced in February 2019 and is drawn twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. Players choose five numbers from 1 to 47 along with a bonus ‘Life Ball’ from 1 to 10. The odds of matching all of these are a staggering 1 in 15,339,390. Over a 30-year period, a winner will end up receiving a total of £3.6m.
Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at the National Lottery, commented: “Time really is running out for the winner of this amazing prize, but we are still hopeful that someone will come forward at the very last minute to claim the money.
“We’re urging everyone to check their old tickets one final time or look anywhere a missing Set For Life ticket could be hiding. This life-changing prize could really see the lucky ticket-holder set for life.”
After a draw, lottery tickets remain valid for a 180-day period. After that period has elapsed, tickets become null and void and all prize money, with accrued interest, goes back into the pocket of the National Lottery.
Anyone with queries or who believes that they may be the winner is urged to get in touch with the National Lottery by calling 0333 234 5050 or by emailing [email protected].
While this particular winner may have hit the jackpot, the fact remains that the chances of winning any lottery draw are very small indeed. If you want to be in with a better chance of winning a cash prize, you might want to check out our guide on why playing bingo offers you a hugely better deal.
