Hit or stand?
PlayTech is launching a new side bet feature for Blackjack called 21+3. According to a press release from the software developers, 21+3 Blackjack brings “the perks of poker into every round of blackjack”.
21+3 Blackjack is a side bet which can be placed before a standard blackjack game. It takes the player’s two cards and the dealer’s face-up card (the three cards in play at the start of every blackjack game), and tries to make a poker hand out of them.
If the three cards combine to make a straight, flush, three-of-a-kind, straight flush, or a suited three-of-a-kind, the player will win their 21+3 side bet, and receive a payout based on what hand was made.
No odds are given in PlayTech’s press release, but it does state that the suited three-of-a-kind (the hardest hand to create in this format) will pay out 100x on the initial side bet.
The game was developed by Games Marketing (a proprietary table game developer), and has been licensed by PlayTech for exclusive use in its casinos.
A new trend
PlayTech clearly feels that side bets are going to be popular with bingo and casino players - we’re interested to see how it works out.
