UKGC is a Great Place to Work
Once again, the UK Gambling Commission has earned a place on the Great Place to Work list. This year, its placed at number 87 in the large company category that assesses workplaces on the strength of their workplace culture.
89% of UKGC employees say it is a great place to work (compared to 54% of employees at a typical UK-based company). The commission recently adopted new workplace practices to promote a culture of inclusivity, dignity at work, and respect.
London gambling ads continue
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said during his 2021 election campaign that he would ban harmful gambling advertisements on all Transport for London trains and buses. However, they continue.
London has the highest gambling harm rates in the UK, and gambling adverts cannot help these statistics.
So, why are these harmful ads still present on TFL? Representatives of the mayor said that it is not easy or in any way straightforward to confirm which gambling ads are harmful and which aren’t. Whether a ban on all gambling ads on TFL is yet to be agreed.
Sheffield bans gambling billboard adverts
Sheffield has approved a new policy that will ban gambling advertising on billboards in the city. This policy will come into effect in April 2024 and prohibit any gambling-related ads (including adverts for betting companies, services, and products).
48% of Adults Gamble in a Month, Says UKGC Survey
Last month, the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) announced the data from the first wave of the Gambling Survey for Great Britain (GSGB). The results revealed that almost half of the study participants (48%) admitted to gambling in a month.
