Betting and Gaming Council Members Donate £122.5 Million To Help Problem Gambling
Members of the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) have donated millions to help manage gambling-related harm.
The largest members of the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) have donated £122.5 million to help manage gambling-related harm.
Four years ago, the most significant members of the BGC, evoke, Flutter, Entain, and bet365, aimed to raise £100m to help the BGC with gambling prevention, research, and treatment.
But they've gone above the expected target.
Although 22.5 million individuals in the UK take part in gambling, the majority enjoy gambling and participate responsibly. However, some individuals require support with gambling harms or problem gambling.
Other BGC members and UK-regulated licensees have also collectively donated another £10 million and have funded the £10m Young People’s Gambling Harm Prevention Programme. This programme focuses on those aged 11-19 and has helped over two million young adults. It's delivered by charities YGAM and GamCare.
So far, in 2024, BGC members expect to provide charities with another £50 million.
