The UK Gambling company 888 is changing its name to 'Evoke.'

The company has faced recent challenges, including management changes and regulatory investigations, that have led to its withdrawal from US markets. The name change date is yet unknown, but it will align with 888's focus on its core markets in the UK, Spain, Denmark, and Italy.

And they're not the first gambling company to aim for a more upbeat name. Entain was once called GVC Holdings, and Flutter was previously Paddy Power Betfair.

Or perhaps the name change is related to recent licence concerns, which have now been cleared.

In June last year, 888's licence was reviewed when FS Gaming was looking to acquire a stake in 888, and the UKGC initiated the review. The good news for 888 is that the UK Gambling Commission recently cleared them of any regulatory penalties.

In relation to the UKGC review, 888 said it has now been concluded 'without imposing any licence conditions, financial penalties or other remedies on the group after being satisfied that the risk to the licensing objectives under the Gambling Act that led to the review have been appropriately managed and adequately mitigated.'
