Moon Bingo Review

Updated May 19th 2021 By Sam Coleman

Will the stars align in your favour at Moon Bingo? Well, the motto of the site certainly seems to think so. Moon has gone through many changes since launching late in 2009, and it has always endured a strong level of popularity. What is it about the site that players enjoy so much?

Moon Bingo Verdict

Moon Bingo isn’t a bad bingo site, but it’s also not a great one. Like most bingo sites, it falls somewhere in the middle and ends up being pretty average. Players who visit the site are unlikely to have many complaints, but they also might end up expecting more.

With some exclusive, unique ideas and a rethink of wagering requirements, Moon Bingo’s overall quality would increase drastically.

Design & Usability

Moon Bingo has opted for a fairly simplistic design with a bright blue and pink theme. It looks pretty appealing to the eye, but it’s not the most thrilling of designs.

Still, the layout of the site makes navigation quick and easy, helping players get where they want to be with little trouble. It would be nice to see certain areas of the site (including the homepage) expanded to be a bit more informative though.

Software & Gameplay

888’s Dragonfish software powers more bingo sites than any other software, making Moon Bingo a small part of something huge. Still, the Dragonfish software is very good, supplying a huge range of slots and a high quality bingo experience. Moon Bingo is still using the old style Dragonfish software (several sites have upgraded to the BingoS package), which is slightly disappointing, but players can still expect few issues with the software.

We have pulled this score from our full review of 888’s bingo software. If you are interested in a more detailed explanation of this score, please click through.

Safety & Security

Moon Bingo does everything that we expect from a modern bingo site to protect and support players. It is fully licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, and also implements a number of industry-standard features like SSL Encryption and Self Limits to keep players safe and secure. If you’re unsure about any of these options, you can also visit the Responsible Gaming page for more details.

Payments & Withdrawals

Making a deposit or withdrawing winnings at Moon Bingo is quite easy, thanks to the wide variety of payment options available. Several e-wallets are supported (including PayPal and Skrill), helping players who don’t like using Debit or Credit Cards to play online.

What detracts from these payment options is the poor wagering requirements and a high minimum withdrawal. Players must withdraw a minimum of £30 at Moon Bingo, which seems pretty unfair on some. And, as mentioned earlier, steep wagering requirements must be met before any withdrawals can be made – it feels pretty unfair to players who aren’t going to be depositing and spending a lot on the site.

Customer Support

When seeking support at Moon Bingo, players have four different contact options to choose from – phone, email, live chat and a contact form. This is a good range of options, and it’s supported by some fairly strong FAQ pages which will help players out as a first point of contact.

One thing we noticed when visiting the site is that live chat is available in the bottom right hand corner straight away. This is good for accessibility, but it also seems to serve as a promotional tool for Moon; it constantly beeps away with the welcome offer, even if you ignore it. It’s debatable whether this tool’s primary purpose is to support players, but we’re confident it will if needed.

Bonuses & Promotions

Moon Bingo hosts a sizeable number of promotions, but most are shared with other United Commissions sites (like Robin Hood Bingo and Ted Bingo). There are some exclusives on Moon Bingo though, which makes it a little stronger than those sites.

However, one major let down is the wagering requirements attached to promotions like the welcome bonus. Bingo bonuses come with a 4x requirement, while slots has a hefty 50x requirement – when compared to other sites on the same network, it seems majorly unfair.

In order to strengthen its promotional range, Moon Bingo needs to add more exclusives, but it also needs to rethink the wagering requirements attached to bonuses.

Device Compatibility

iPhone and iPad users can download an app version of Moon Bingo from the iOS App Store, offering easy access to the site for players. However, Android players will have to settle for the mobile site – an Android app for Moon Bingo would help improve the mobile experience for a vast number of players.

However, if you do have to settle for the mobile site, you won’t be disappointed. Moon’s design on mobile is excellent, and thanks to the Dragonfish software, very little is missing. Once an Android app is added, it will be one of the better mobile offerings out there.

Variety & Originality

As mentioned previously, Moon Bingo has a great range of products. It has a huge selection of slot games, and both variants of bingo (75 and 90) are available throughout the day in a number of different rooms.

However, the site fails to offer exclusive games to encourage players at other sites to move across. If you’ve been a member at another Dragonfish site, you’ll have seen everything that Moon Bingo has to offer before. That’s a shame, because the variety of bingo is a strong point. Moon Bingo has plenty of rooms and jackpot games to offer, but there’s nothing massively new or exciting to elevate it even further.

Loyalty & Rewards

Moon Bingo’s VIP Programme is buried away on the Promotions page, which seems like they might be trying to hide it. It’s actually really good though!

There are seven different tiers with Moon Bingo’s loyalty system (including the default Newbie status), and moving through the system offers increased rewards and bonuses. At the lower levels, you won’t see much return (aside from some free bingo games), but when you start ascending into the higher tiers, you’ll feel much more rewarded.

At the Silver VIP level, players start earning monthly cashback, VIP Customer Support and free gifts. As you move even higher, those rewards increase further. High spending players will definitely feel like VIPs in this system.

Our only criticism is that it’s a little steep to get onto the ladder. To become a Silver VIP, players need to deposit £500 in total. That’s a little high, but it’s arguable that the rewards and dedicated service make up for it somewhat. Still, we’d like to see it lowered slightly – a player spending £250 or more at a site should be made to feel like a VIP too, in our opinion.
